What is Truffleland?
Truffleland was born in 2017
Out of pure passion
In order to come back to men’s first noble job: agriculture. It is a large nursery located in Scheggino, Umbria: it produces mycorrhized plants for truffle cultivation with a revolutionary method. New truffle plants that grow among endless natural truffieres that have been there for centuries instead, and need new strength. It’s oaks, hazels and hornbeams, being taken care of by loving and experienced hands. They are then planted outside and, for five years, they silently linger, absorbing all the nourishment, waiting patiently for the earth to ripen them. The result of the anticipation is the truffle, unique and scented food, a miracle of nature. Truffleland exports them in the world, as only the Urbanis can. It puts its own technique, knowledge and emotions in the project. The rest is done by the earth, and the sun adds in what is lacking.
Truffleland is based in
A village in the Valnerina Valley that counts less than 1000 people and which is blessed by a very unique environment, due to the special beauty of this area where the Nera river flows. The wonderful springs in Valcasana, close to the village itself, are just an example of the breathtaking sights that nature provides in this location. Tourists coming to Scheggino will be delighted by the colours and the flavours of nature, that here offers fine truffles and river trouts.
the most virtuous way
Truffleland is valorisation of biodiversity. Truffleland is a virtuous way to recover abandoned areas, and increase the profitability of uncultivated mountain areas. It creates ecosystem with extremely high biodiversity with a beneficial impact on the environment. In Italy and throughout the world.
to preserve biodiversity
Truffleland grew from a great passion for the truffle and from a strong, precise desire to preserve biodiversity and the conservation of the truffle in Umbria. It was created to exploit the product and support the truffle grower. Trufflecolture is at high risk of extinction. The loss of a genetic biodiversity of the truffle would also contribute to a cultural levelling out and a loss of popular traditions, habits and customs. On the contrary, by protecting it we will be able to conserve and valorise a “crop” and “culture” of our territory.
What is Truffleland?
Truffleland operates in the nursery sector producing the mycorrhized plants to grow truffles for the Italian and international market, using avant-garde methods and structures.
By mycorrhized plants, we mean seedlings belonging to ectomycorrhizal woodland species, obtained from certified seed or from micro-propagation/cutting and joined in symbiosis with the main prized truffle species, which can be cultivated and in demand by the market. Production of “sterile” sets, i.e. grown in sterile substrates and in a controlled environment to obtain healthy, sufficiently developed plants for transplanting, with root systems without fungi mycorrhizas, naturally present in the environment, which would compromise not only the production of the plant itself, but also of the entire batch planted in the same surface.
Truffleland is 70% mycorrhized plants. What makes a Truffleland plant unique is not only the exceptionally high concentration of fructiferous spores compared to the european market average, but also the total absence of polluting spores. All down to our laboratory research and our new mycorrhization technique of the roots, for which the registered patent is Truffleland’s trasure.

What is Truffleland?
The family that made the italian truffle famous throughout the world
Truffleland has its roots in the past traditions and exends its branches in the future. From an idea by Francesco Loreti Urbani, young strenght of Urbani Tartufi, Truffleland is a great investment for anyone who have land to farm. Truffleland works throughout the national territory and all around the world and it uses the precious, centuries-old technical knowledge of the Urbani Family that continues its international leadership in one of the most valuable and luxury areas in the world. With Truffleland, the alchemy of the transformation of the land in diamonds it’s not a legend anymore.
Forestry Experts are always up-to-date on all the funding made available by your Region. You will be able to use the incentives made available.
Truffle cultivation re-qualifies the abandoned, unworked mountain areas and hills, and guarantees the preservation of an autochthonous species and a general environmental improvement. Truffleland truffle-growing also enables you to obtain an immediate, correlated income, thanks to its goods collection service with payment on delivery at the current market price. You will realise how Italian soils are particularly suitable for this crop and how active and productive the truffle market is. A fascinating world that has only one defect: once you approach it, passion will take over to the extent you’ll never be able to leave it.
Truffleland is an accredited Training Company of the Regione Umbria and is included in the Regional list of teaching farms. In the Truffleland Master School, thanks to classrooms and laboratories, processes of mycorrhization, propagators, and to the genome bank of 4 types of “tuber”, we organise training and information activities, refresher courses and classes for students and operators, in line with the most recent discoveries on the subject of Truffle cultivation. The training pathways are divided into theoretical and practical lessons, which start from the truffle seedlings in the greenhouses and envisage interdisciplinary studies, including the environment, its protection and biodiversity. All pathways are aimed at diverse user targets and are run by certified operators, agronomists and specialised tutors. The Truffleland Master School uses the now famous Accademia del Tartufo Urbani to welcome all its course members for lunches, dinners and lectures
Truffleland can guarantee for their clients the supply of a very ancient breed of truffle dogs, the Grifo Valnerino. This type of truffle dog has some special talents and features that make it unique for the search of the precious mushroom. Upon request, Truffleland is able to supply cute Grifi Neri Valnerini at very competitive prices and, most importantly, the dogs will be already experienced in the truffle hunt, since they will have had a specific training by the Truffleland staff. It is not then just about purchasing the truffle that is found, but providing any tool for finding it!
Truffleland is the only company that is always by the side of those who pursue the truffle cultivation, in its projects and for every harvest.
